Kaja Abbas, PhD - Automated Objective Gating for Multicolor Flow Cytometry Data

Multi-color flow cytometry is used in biomedical research to quantify and analyze different types of cells. There are currently no defined standards to analyze flow cytometry data, thereby leading to variability in results by different researchers. We will review an example to illustrate the current procedure of manual gating of multi-color flow cytometry data. The challenges in developing an automated objective gating system will be presented. We will end by introducing an ongoing cross-disciplinary international collaborative effort that is focussed on developing data standards in flow cytometry.
